Vintage newborn & child portraiture

April 09, 2019  •  1 Comment

3 years ago one of my wedding couples came to me for photographs of their baby girl and, because we have done a few outdoor family shoots since I have had the pleasure of seeing her grow up.  Last week was a special treat because not only did I get to photograph her again but also meet and photograph her week old brother!

I photograph several 'babies' each year but once born, life generally takes over and rarely do people come to me early enough to photograph their baby within the first 14 days which is when you can get the seriously cute sleepy and wrapped images.  Beyond this age most babies have discovered they have plenty of room to stretch and getting those arms and legs from waving around can be somewhat of a challenge!

So I was in for a real treat with this cute little bundle because mom and dad were also looking to get a variety of image 'looks' and after the standard 'white-background' shots, out came the props and different backdrops including a moon for some light images (including the cuddly elephant that made an appearance in his sister's baby photos) and for the vintage shots a large wooden bucket and trug and a simple fluffy mat.  Some simple vintage-style portraits were also taken of his extremely photogenic sister and so I finished the shoot a very happy bunny and their parents have kindly granted permission to share a handful.  Enjoy!

All we can say is thank you. We were more than lucky to have found you (well Phil we met first) at the wedding fayre all those years ago. Think it was all the Safari talk that sold us on both of you being part of our wedding and your amazing work has meant we have continued to use your extraordinary photography skills over the years and look forward to continuing (although we don’t really have much wall space these days!) Thank you Maxine for being a great photographer and generally such a lovely person. We couldn’t have been more happy with our treasured photos.
